A short trip to Yercaud

We planned for a short trip from Bangalore to Yercaud during the last week of January 2016. There were four of us and we hired an Innova for the journey. The trip started from Bangalore at around 1 pm. We took the NH7 road and views were simply mesmerizing. Lush green fields, small hills and smooth road will make your heart sing with joy. There are around 4 toll gates on the way to Yercaud and hence keep ready change. The last 20 KM road near Yercaud boasts of 20 amazing hairpin bends. The beauty of nature is really on display here. After a 5.5 hours ride we reached our destination.

Our hotel Golden Nest was pre-booked by us. We had taken two top floor rooms and were quickly shown the way to our rooms. As soon as we stepped in the balcony, a cool pleasant breeze welcomed us. The view from the balcony was simply wonderful. A big lake with hills at its backyard. Soon a whole gang of fog arrived and covered the whole hills. We settled down in our rooms and then moved out to explore the hotel. The hotel is a compact one with nice view-points. There was bon-fire arranged in the hotel wherein all the guests sat together and enjoyed. After having dinner in the hotel we called it a day.

The next day after having our breakfast in the hotel we started for the viewpoints. We visited Ladies seat, Gents seat & Children seat. We spent around 1 hour roaming around. The major attractions here are the views of the valley. The scenic beauty and calmness all around makes the whole trip memorable. There is a garden adjacent to the view spots.

Then we came back to our hotel and checked out .After checking out we went to the lake and enjoyed boating (Rs. 90 for couple). The lake is situated in the middle of the town. One can witness all the hustle bustle of the town just by paddling through the lake. After all the paddling we were really hungry. We found a south-indian restaurant right in the middle of the marketplace and we went straight in. Only dish available at that point of time was South Indian thali. We devoured the thalis as soon as the waiter brought the same. Post lunch we went to the botanical garden. It had nurseries inside. The garden is really huge with multiple plants and trees all around. After roaming around we finally bought one plant for home and then we started our journey back. We reached home within 4 hours.

Out of the many tourist places around Bangalore, one should definitely try Yercaud. The weather and views are amazing. Only a day here is enough to rejuvenate you.
